The big event of the week has been Republic Day - one of the 3 national holidays. The Republic Day of India commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force.
The main event is a parade along the Rajpath - a road that runs from the Presidential Palace to India Gate. Security was understandably tight given what was on show. I'd best describe the parade as a cross between the Lord Mayor's Procession in London and an old Soviet Style military parade with men and missiles.
My highlight was the Mounted Camel Brigade - pictured!
It was a great day to explore New Delhi as all the roads were shut and we could wander in the early Spring sunshine free from noise and hassle.

I've spent the better part of the morning looking at India travel blogs and I'm not even planning a trip there. Your posts (minus the delhi belly one!) make me excited about the thought of visiting one day.
