Another weekend of packing and our home is now almost empty, except for the few pieces of furniture for the tenants moving in to our furnished flat. Although we move out in a fortnight, a mixture of work, saying goodbyes to friends and our final part of training with VSO means we don’t really have anymore spare time!
Our final training course with VSO in this country takes us to Birmingham for a 4 day residential session consisting of a short “Health and Safety at Work” followed by “Skills for Working in Development”. The focus on training and development of the volunteers by VSO is impressive. There is a 4 stage process with a mix of web-based and residential courses in the UK . This is followed up with approximately 4 weeks of In Country Training upon arrival in India .
But for now, we’re preparing for this weekend where we will be learning the practical skills, attitudes and behaviours that you will be needed in order to implement VSO’s approach to development (empowerment, partnership & commitment to learning) in our placement.
wishing you both well and hope you have a brilliant experience, will miss you katie :(
