As the countdown continues, we're busily packing, finishing our VSO training and saying goodbye to all our friends.
The last 4 days have been spent at a residential training session in Birmingham covering some practical areas that should come in handy for our placement and it also gave us some space to reflect on what we'd both like to achieve. We also met up with other volunteers who are above to depart to the corners of the planet. We both now feel well equipped for the challenges that lie ahead - but who knows? But be assured, you'll find out first to find out as we blog our warts-and-all experience over the next 12 months.
So inbetween all the packing, we've now got a fortnight left for goodbyes....so we'll be coming to a pub near you soon - starting with the Norwich Beer Festival tomorrow evening.... cheers!
K&D, an anticipatory welcome - Swagat - to India. I've just been browsing your blog so far and your entries remind me of exactly what I was going through and doing 1 year ago! By the way, my home is pretty close by, just at the borders of Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk.
ReplyDeleteAs your nervous tension mounts know you are boldly going where others have gone before and a friendly hi awaits you in Delhi. I'm based over the other side of the country in Orissa, but hi nonetheless.
Enjoy the experience, have fun and keep the sense of humour and perspective to see you through what will sometimes be an "interesting" time.
I am looking forward to reading more as you progress through In Country training, learn the language, taste the food, miss the beer.....Oops, couldn't resist that one, I trust the pub crawl is going great guns :)
